Virgin Blue Airlines grew tremendously over the last five years and needed to centralise their offices in Brisbane. As future expansion was likely, flexibility was high on their agenda.
The communication from Virgin was to give their new Australian Head Office a campus feel. They were after a dynamic, contemporary warehouse feel, with a relaxed and spacious environment that fitted their cheeky personality.
To make the most of the transformation, we quickly developed a close working relationship with all project stakeholders, especially the designer, whose imprint was the key to achieving a quality product within strict timeframes. The tight-knit team knew what the finished product would be like, with no surprises.
It was more than delivering flexible workstations, more space and better use of the office. It was about building a community, where people would feel connected by their culture; ISIS ensured the build reflected this.
Fun, colourful, young and responsive are words the public associates with Virgin Blue. And the people who work for Virgin Blue feel the same. This was a case of building a visual dynamic that was confidently different.
We hit it off brilliantly with the Virgin people - probably because we share the idea that work is allowed to be fun. The project was opened by state dignitaries and received lots of magazine coverage. But the most inspiring thing was to learn that we were regarded as the best partner they had ever done business with.
